Story:

'Beneath the Woods' is a stylized, narrative-focused mystery / horror / puzzle game set in the fictional small town of Redscott Pines, Oregan. The story follows Davis, who returns to his hometown to search for his missing sister (Mina). He hasn't been back since he ran away 2 years earlier. With help from the people closest to Mina (Tyler and Annie), he follows the trail to a church in the woods, and uncovers the secrets lurking beneath...

Inspirations:

Gameplay took a lot of inspiration from games like Until Dawn, Alan Wake, and the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series, and the Art Style from many stylized games or comics such as the Scott Pilgrim series, Oxenfree, Life is Strange and Telltale's The Walking Dead series.

My Role & Collaborators:

As the only Game Developer working on this project, I'm working on almost all aspects of the game (Narrative Design, Concept Art, Storyboarding, Animatics, Modelling, Rigging, Texturing, 2D & 3D Animation, Programming, and Lighting).

The main aspects I am focusing on however were Narrative Design, Cinematics & Cutscene Animation.

For this project, I am lucky enough to be collaborating with an incredible team - Samuel Read & Matteo Tronchin (Composers) & Simon Panayi & Itzel Gonzalez (Sound Designers), Francesca Lin and Steven Lee (screenwriters), and Dinesh Pasrasurum (Marketer). There's also all the incredibly talented voice actors who lent us their voices for this game and who will all be mentioned closer to the release date.

Above, you can watch trailer for the game, edited together by Frederik Ribergaard.

Below is a few examples of the concept art and storyboards I've made, as well as some screenshots from the game so far.

You can also follow the game on our socials for updates here:
